what did i do today? SEAMED ALL DAY. or at least thats what it feels like....

but hey, i think it was worth it.

Urban Aran Post Seaming
freshly laid seams

theres still the matter of the zipper. and, although it looks great on the bed, i'm having some collar issues. i'm assesing my creative options. i'm thinking i might extend the collar to act as a hood-like shawl collar (not a real hood). i have one ball of yarn left... i might as well experiment? the current collar has a slight (elizabethan) ruffle effect when upright, i'm not really digging it. i might try reknitting it with a smaller needle to make it a little more sturdy. this will throw off my timeline (purchase and sew zipper tomorrow), but i'd rather make it perfect than settle for less. after the zipper and collar resolution, you'll get the post of your life! extensive notes, modifaction talk, and general opinions to come... and some great photos.

oh and the fit? like a glove.

That looks so cool so far. From here, the collar looks ok, but you have it there, and are the judge. Looking forward to seeing the finished documentary report.

Looks great. I think you're right about reknitting the collar in smaller needles. I can't wait to read your modification talk and see more photos.

It looks awesome, Jared! Good luck with figuring out a viable solution.

That cardigan is fantastic!! I think that if you knit the collar ribbing on a smaller needle, it'll fix the problem. But a hood-like collar might be great too!

I agree that knitting the collar on a smaller needles would probably work. It looks fantastic, even on the bed. I just love the color, very masculine and sophisticated. You really did a great job. I look forward to the extended post!

That looks awesome! The smaller needles sound like a good plan. I can't wait to see it!

It looks fabulous, and you're right to be picky about the collar, you've put a lot of work into that top - you want it to be perfect. Looking forward to seeing it on, and the report.

It looks AMAZING! Whoo hoo for you! Collars - ah, crap, I don't think I've ever gotten a collar right on the first try. Keep plugging with it - changing needle size will almost certainly do the trick. Or not. You know.

Wow, I bet you're going to be wearing that sweater everyday! It's so perfect... I think the longer collar will be cool, too. Very retro. Can't wait to see it all finished up.

Wow, it's amazing. Just amazing.
I don't blame you for wanting the collar perfect. Why have a fabulous sweater and a wonky collar that drives you crazy? The bigger collar sounds cool. Good luck.

FABULOUS! I can't wait to see it on. I just love the texture. Your collar ideas sound good. Smaller needles for a stiffer collar would be my vote...maybe an enormous collar...yeah.

I am UNDONE! You are a mind-bogglingly fabulous knitter! that said, yes, re-knit the collar with smaller needles. Using that last ball of yarn may not give you the effect you think. Don't experiment with perfection. Especially if it's glove fitting perfection!

Looks great so far! Can't wait to see the finished object post of my life!

Looking forward to the photos. I *love* the ribbing and crossovers. It looks great!
